Wikomidita: enhacing the food environment in Mexico
Project Description
Wikomidita is an ongoing research project aimed at providing access to crucial information to facilitate the improvement of the food environment for Mexicans. This project seeks to collect, analyze, and present relevant data on nutrition, the availability of healthy foods, public policies, and other factors influencing dietary choices and population health.
Strategic collaborations
This project is being developed in collaboration with:
Bromatology Laboratory of UABC Mexicali: For the analysis of data related to food quality.
Technology for Social Good Lab (Tech4Good) – UABC Ensenada : To ensure the platform is intuitive, accessible, and effective for users when presenting complex information.
Postgraduate Program in Social Sciences: Sustainable Development and Globalization – UABCS La Paz: To conduct ethnographic studies related to food preferences.
Master of Science in Data Science – UNISON Hermosillo: To develop the structure and define the machine learning models.
Current Status
This research project is currently in the development phase and in the process of official registration. Our primary focus is on identifying key data sources, designing the platform’s architecture, and creating prototypes for information visualization. The publication and dissemination of the platform will occur once the database and interface are robust and validated.
